I like how he built the xovers. Oil caps and terminal blocks;)
Looks like a pretty solid review and write up

Yes E1, I know you like that. Riggle, as I posted, is a very cool guy.
With modern caps available today, I would not use oil caps, and I prefer to wrap one wire around the other, for large contact area, and to Wonder Solder my crossover connections.
Hilarious, ....... why yes !!

I think two wires smashed together make a pretty good connection. In fact, I have used wire nuts before with no audible difference to me. :p
Re: Port size reduction, and Efficiency 825 & 828
FWIW, many decades of of UL/CSA [and no doubt others] wiring/termination testing has proven cold welds to be the best, which a plastic wire nut is a crude variation of when the proper terminal, crimping tool isn't available and can be audio signal grade when it has a copper coil 'twister' inside and the joint is sealed up against contaminants such as with this goop: http://www.alliedelec.com/m/d/896682...dc78f9e2b3.pdf

Wiring helm electronics and controls on Nor-Tech fishing boats right now.

Nice! Lots worse ways to making a living!

thanks GM
With my 828s I ended up with an 8" concrete tube cut at a 6" length. it seemed to work out ok when I was using an 846b Xover. it had a very strong 35-40 HZ. but then I now run a triamp setup with the Xover point at 85 Hz, so the 828 isn't playing below that. I would guess it not really doing a whole lot at this point.
Re: Port size reduction, and Efficiency 825 & 828
Not really, might want to try stuffing/blocking it off to see if there's any improvement in SQ.
